The Kabaddi scoring model
Under World Kabaddi / Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) rules, a match runs 20+20 minutes with a 30-second raid clock, do-or-die raids, super tackles, all-outs, and review challenges. Every one of these states has to be tracked in real time and exposed to the scoreboard, broadcast and web results simultaneously. Pencil-and-paper scoresheets cannot keep up with TV-grade output.
What the technical setup looks like
- Match Officials' tablet running custom Kabaddi scoring software (touch-friendly raider/defender buttons, automatic raid clock, do-or-die flag, super tackle calculation)
- Mat-side LED scoreboard fed by HDMI/NDI from the scoring laptop
- Independent 30-second raid timer display visible to both teams
- Multi-camera replay system (4–8 cameras into a replay server such as EVS or a vMix Replay workflow) for the technical review
- TV Umpire / Referee station with the review feed and a tablet to log the final decision
- Live web results portal and a notifications feed for fixtures, half-time, full-time
Broadcast graphics for Kabaddi
Pro Kabaddi-style productions push a permanent scoreboard bug with team logos, raid count, raider name and time-remaining, supported by lower-thirds for raider/defender stats, a 'do or die' alert overlay, super raid / super tackle stings, head-to-head cards at the start of each half, and a final box score. The graphics are usually driven by vMix or Singular.live, fed from the scoring system over a JSON / WebSocket bridge.
Broadcast graphics typically include lower-thirds for athlete names and bios, an on-screen scoreboard or 'bug' fed live from the scoring system, dynamic start lists, results pages, head-to-head comparisons, sponsor bumpers, replay wipes, and end-of-session summary cards. Output is usually delivered over SDI from a graphics engine (vMix, Singular.live, CasparCG, or a federation-supplied template pack) into the ATEM or production switcher.
Venue branding
Standard branding for a state or national league match includes the painted mat (officially licensed mat from Karnam Sports or equivalent), backdrop behind the bench, sponsor boards along the half-line, raider/defender entry arch, and an LED ribbon around the mat for sponsor playout.
